Kaleidoscope Players is a community amateur dramatics group based in Derby, with members from across the city and beyond.

We've been delighting audiences for over 20 years with our energetic performances of musicals, concerts and award-winning pantomimes. Our members and shows have won several much-coveted Eagle Awards, and we are proud to be continuing our legacy in the Derby amateur dramatics community.

We rehearse on Monday evenings at Boulton Lane Community Centre and Sunday afternoons at Heat Studios, Derby.

The Derby City Youth Theatre class is held weekly on a Saturday morning at the St Marys Church Hall for children ranging from 12- 18 years old.

Through structured hour-long lesson plans, Drama Kids helps children to improve confidence, develop language skills, and build self-esteem, all whilst having lots of fun and making new friends.

The terms fees are calculated based on £10.50 per weekly session.

Learn how to make beats, write lyrics Develop your rapping and vocals, and unlock your potential. Open for free to all young people aged between 13-19 years. No booking is necessary, just turn up.

Umbrella Derby & Derbyshire are offering Non-Contact Boxing sessions to all children, young people and adults with any form of SEN or disability.

The sessions include:

Derby Phoenix Swimming Club is a competitive organisation which aims to train young swimmers of all abilities to attain a high standard of competitive achievement, and at the same time enjoy themselves. Throughout the year the Club competes in a regular programme of team galas, both locally and across the Midlands region. The Club also competes each year in the Derbyshire County Championships. Derby Phoenix encourages any swimmer who meets the required standard to take up the opportunity to train with and swim for Derventio Excel, Derbyshire’s elite squad.

The home of women’s football in Derby! Based in Allestree, Woodlands has been supporting women to play football since 2007. We have upwards of 150 players playing across all age ranges and are always looking to welcome more players into the club.

Including teams for those between 7-16 years old.

We offer trampolining classes for boys & girls at beginner & intermediate levels. Classes are 1 hour in duration and are a great for those who have no previous trampolining experience.

Our classes are listed below:

Wednesday 4.30-5.30
Wednesday 5.30-6.30
Wednesday 6.30-7.30

Classes are £7.20 per week and payable termly in advance.

PaddlePower is open to youngsters from eight years until their eighteenth birthday. Our outdoor sessions run from April until October and our indoor sessions from November until March. Our sessions are typically Wednesday evenings, 18:00 until sunset, or weekend mornings in April and October. Sessions are in school term time only.

All youth activities will require pre-booking, and an annual consent form prior to the first session or the start of the outdoor season. You are welcome to attend up to 3 taster sessions at £11 each on a "pay as you go" basis before deciding if you want to become a regular member. After this, all participants must become members of MCC (Youth or Family).

Derby Youth Musical Theatre was created in 2013 to bring together young people in the region who were interested in musical theatre. In the intervening years, hundreds of young cast members have taken to the stage in eleven magnificent productions.

We have established ourselves as one of the leading youth musical theatre groups in the county with all our productions drawing great critical acclaim and excellent reviews from all those who have seen them. We are very proud of how much we have achieved both in terms of our productions and our reputation.

All ages, all skill levels welcome.

Free football sessions with a number of drills that are focused on progression and building up to an in-game scenario.

Foiled Again welcomes both beginners and more experienced fencers, meeting on Friday nights in Allestree, Derby. We run beginner’s classes for adults and children (minimum age 8), as well as sessions where more experienced fencers can hone their skills in foil, epee and sabre.

Once your child has completed the beginners course, they are welcome to continue to attend the junior session but will have the opportunity to continue develop their skills, as well as learning to fence either or both of the other two weapons (epee and sabre). Many of our junior fencers eventually transition over to the adult group and fence both in competitions and with more experienced fencers in the later session.

Derbyshire Allstars Badminton Club is aligned to Special Olympics Derbyshire and provides young people with learning disabilities, the opportunity to train and compete in badminton on a regular basis. This activity is suitable for all skill levels, providing children/young adults with suitable foundations to begin a lifelong love of physical activity and badminton while making friends in a safe and enjoyable environment.

Through regular weekly sessions, young people learn a variety of basic skills before moving onto performance related play.

Open to males only aged 16+

Working in a supportive group led by theatre practitioners you will learn about the process of theatre making including back stage areas like technical theatre, leadership, events management and writing for theatre.

All Youth Theatre groups work towards an annual show that is produced for the stage at Derby Theatre.

Please be aware that the Youth Theatre is very popular and we have a waiting list in place for all the groups.

Love4Life's mission is to give young people aged 11-18 the tools to build confidence and resilience to make positive choices for their health and relationships.
Our groups are safe, creative and supportive spaces to discuss important topics through fun activities. We aim to build self-esteem, confidence and knowledge of healthy relationships through engaging group sessions which vary week to week.

In the Juniors group, children dive deeper into the world of theatre, singing, and dance. They begin to learn more structured techniques while continuing to develop their performance skills. As they progress, they work on larger productions, giving them the chance to shine on stage in full-scale performances. This group also introduces them to performance exams, helping them build valuable skills for the future.

Woodlands Future Stars is our dedicated football programme for girls aged 5 to 7. These fun-packed sessions are designed to help girls fall in love with the game while developing confidence, coordination, and teamwork — all in a safe and supportive environment.
